Your Academic Ally
Ethical, Clarity-Focused Dissertation Editing
I’m Kinsey Simone, an Assistant Professor of Research Methods and a professional academic editor offering ethical dissertation editing for graduate writers. I have experience serving on and chairing dissertation committees across disciplines and working with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research. My editing focuses on clarity, structure, and academic style while preserving each author’s voice and maintaining clear boundaries around authorship.

Services
All editing services begin with a required virtual consultation to confirm scope, fit, timeline, and ethical boundaries.

Consultations are $50 and focus on understanding the document, the writer’s goals, and the appropriate level of editorial support.
If editing services are booked, the consultation fee is credited toward the final invoice. Editing fees are billed upon completion of services.

I do not write content, generate arguments, analyze data, design studies, or make decisions on behalf of dissertation committees. All work remains the author’s own.

About Me.
I’m Dr. Kinsey Simone, an Assistant Professor of Research Methods and a professional academic editor specializing in ethical dissertation editing for graduate writers.

I bring faculty-level experience with graduate research, dissertation expectations, and academic writing across disciplines. I have served on dissertation committees and worked with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, giving me a strong understanding of how complex research is evaluated and communicated in academic contexts.

In addition to my research training, I hold a degree in Professional & Technical Communication in English, which informs my editing approach with a strong focus on clarity, structure, and reader-centered academic writing.

My editing approach is grounded in clarity, rigor, and respect for authorial voice. I focus on language-level clarity, structure, and presentation while maintaining clear ethical boundaries around authorship. I do not write content, design studies, or make decisions on behalf of committees. All work remains the author’s own.

I understand that dissertation writing is both intellectually demanding and emotionally challenging. My goal is to provide calm, transparent, and professional editorial support that helps writers present their work clearly and confidently while aligning with institutional expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
1 / Is dissertation editing allowed by my graduate program?
Most graduate programs permit professional editing focused on clarity, grammar, formatting, and presentation. I recommend that writers review their program’s policies and, if needed, disclose the use of professional editing. My services are designed to align with common institutional guidelines for ethical academic editing.
2 / Will you write or rewrite parts of my dissertation?
No. I do not write content, generate arguments, analyze data, or make decisions on behalf of dissertation committees. All feedback is provided at the language and presentation level to strengthen clarity while preserving authorship.
3 / How is editing feedback provided?
All feedback is delivered through tracked changes and margin comments using Microsoft Word.
4 / Do you offer research design or methods advising?
I do not provide research supervision or advising. Feedback related to research methods is limited to clarity, coherence, and consistency of how methods are described in the manuscript.
5 / Do you use AI in your editing?
I may use limited AI-assisted tools to support grammar checks or consistency review. All editorial decisions, feedback, and comments are made by me. AI is not used to generate content or rewrite text, and authorship remains entirely with the writer.
6 / What happens during the consultation?
The consultation is a brief, paid meeting to clarify scope, timelines, and fit. It does not include live editing. If editing services are booked, the consultation fee is credited toward the final invoice.
7 / How long does editing take?
Turnaround time depends on document length and service level. Estimated timelines are discussed during the consultation and confirmed before work begins. A 200-page dissertation can be expected to take 2-3 weeks for comprehensive edits.
8 / What file format do you accept?
I accept Microsoft Word documents only.
9 / How do I get started?
You can request a consultation or editing service directly through the booking system on this site.
10 / How do payments work for consultations and editing services?
A valid credit or debit card is required to reserve a consultation. The $50 consultation fee is charged upon completion of the consultation.

If editing services are booked, the consultation fee is credited toward the final editing cost. Payment method for editing services (Venmo, PayPal, or emailed invoice) is selected during the consultation after scope and pricing are confirmed.
